NSAA's committees focus on a specific area of industry operations. These committees generally meet around the National Convention and at different intervals throughout the year. Some committees are more formal than others, requiring a time commitment or specific area of expertise. Others are more general, and open to a wider portion of the NSAA membership. Economic

NSAA Contact: Laura Lewis

The NSAA Economic Committee meets annually to discuss finance and tax issues relevant to the ski industry. In addition, the Committee provides feedback on the NSAA Economic Analysis survey and report, and helps to develop finance-related educational content for NSAA conferences.

Government Affairs

NSAA Contact: Dave Byrd

The Government Affairs committee focuses on topics, regulations and legislation at the federal level, and is a think-tank for ski industry advocacy to both elected and appointed officials. 

Procurement

NSAA Contact: Keanna Smith

The Procurement Committee is a consortium of industry procurement leaders seeking to develop industry guidance and consideration of procurement-related concepts; develop public-facing statements to promote best practices; and provide non-competitive research and guidance on specific commodities. The committee is currently seeking ski area members

Small Ski Areas

This committee is for owners and operators of small ski areas in the U.S.

Environmental

NSAA Contact: Courtney LaBrie

This committee focuses on NSAA’s sustainability programs, communications and climate change advocacy. Contact Courtney for information on participating.

Growth

NSAA Contact: Tonya Riley

Formed in 2018, the Growth Committee works to increase participation and inclusion in winter sports. Participation includes a time commitment and operational leadership to implement the ideas discussed.

Public Lands

NSAA Contact: Geraldine Link

This Committee represents the interests of the 122 resorts operating on National Forest System lands. The committee supports NSAA in developing ski industry positions on Forest Service and other federal policies impacting public lands and natural resources.

Supplier

This committee is comprised of supplier members to discuss and promote the interests of ski industry supplier companies.

Inclusion

Explosives

NSAA Contact: Geraldine Link

This Committee is comprised of 7 members from resorts that deploy explosives for avalanche hazard mitigation. Committee members are geographically diverse and provide technical support and advocacy on federal government regulation of explosives.

Human Resources

The HR Committee focuses on educating member areas and sharing best practices related to all manner of HR issues including employment law, benefits, compensation, recruiting, hiring and staffing, leadership, safety, workers compensation, technology, and retention for domestic and international workers alike.

NSAA’s Risk & Education Committee focuses on risk management issues that affect ski area employees, guests, and properties and the education and training programs that seek to mitigate those risks.

Technology

NSAA Contacts: Earl Saline

The Technology Committee was born from the founders of the Mountain Technology Symposium, and includes both ski areas and suppliers. The committee is not seeking new members at this time.
